Brittnay & Hunter: Beach Wedding

Destin, Florida

May 28th, 2011

beach weddingThis wedding on water is one of a kind. Brittnay’s and Hunter’s beach ceremony at Henderson Park Inn in Destin, Florida was followed by a rockin’ reception. Literally. Hunter is a musician with the band Heritage, so a rock band wedding wasn’t a stretch for them. It’s their life. This is exactly what having a beach wedding is all about…using a non-traditional setting to create an experience that reflects you both as individuals and as a couple. Brittnay and Hunter are obviously free spirits, and their wedding theme, “Rock Your Gypsy Soul,” captured that perfectly. We have Van Morrison to thank for those words, of course, which are part of the lyrics to one of the greatest songs of all time (and my personal favorite), “Into The Mystic.” Check out the bride’s killer shoes, the rainbow cake, the ceremony canopy handmade by the groom, the all access concert/reception passes for guests. These unique details put this wedding in a league of its own. Love it.beach weddingbeach weddingbeach weddingbeach weddingbeach weddingbeach weddingbeach weddingbeach weddingThanks so much to Pure 7 Studios for sending us these great photos.

Beach Wedding Dress

Lilly Pulitzer

May 24th, 2011

beach wedding dressIndulge me here for a second, as I’m having a wedding dress moment. I’ve just spent the past few hours immersed in images of weddings and wedding dresses, and I’m surfacing with just one thought in mind….simplicity. This Lilly Pulitzer dress, called “Shayna,” is the epitome of simplicity. Imagine a bride wearing it to her sunset beach wedding, accessorized with nothing more than bare feet and tan legs. Or maybe she’s getting married on the bow of her sailboat in Kennebunkport or at the edge of a pool in Palm Springs. Whatever the case may be, if the white t-shirt had a cousin that was a wedding dress, this would be it, clean, simple, chic, confident, and short enough to still be sexy. Kind of reminds me of the dress Jacqueline Kennedy wore when she married Aristotle Onassis in Greece. Need I say more?

Jenny & Trevor: Oceanfront Wedding

Newport, Rhode Island

May 11th, 2011

Oceanfront wedding Check out the first half of this post at www.mywedding.com, where I’m a guest blogger. This elegant, oceanfront wedding took place at Castle Hill Inn in Newport, Rhode Island. The decorated tandem bike was a surprise from the bride’s sister, and guests took turns riding it around when it came time for the reception. Bride and groom, Jenny and Trevor, chose a beautiful venue for their classic Newport wedding, and the details of the day did not disappoint. Love the perfectly appointed reception tent, the starfish and sand dollar placecards, and the unexpectedly pale pink wedding cake! Thanks to photographers Armor and Martel for submitting the images of this gorgeous day.Oceanfront weddingOceanfront weddingOceanfront weddingOceanfront weddingOceanfront wedding

Beach Wedding Invitations

Sarah Drake Design

May 1st, 2011

Sometimes the simplicity of a linear design is all a beach wedding invitation needs in order to convey its message. Such is the case with this lovely invitation from Sarah Drake Design called Water. What started as a custom design for a couple requesting a clean, taupe and blue beach inspired invite has now made it into the company’s wedding line. This design would be a perfect modern fit for any wedding on water, actually. beach wedding invitations
